About You
On the outside, people around you see you as a strong and high-functioning woman. To the outside world, you can “do it all” –whether it’s your ability to balance career and family; or being a full-time caregiver to children or loved ones –you seem to do it all effortlessly. But what you don’t let them see is that on the inside, you’re hurting.
They don’t know that you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, tense, and on edge. They don’t know that your mind is consumed with worries and fears that have led to panic attacks. They don’t know that in reality, you feel alone, sad, and worthless. They don’t know how many times you’ve asked yourself “what is wrong with me”?
Your Past is Present
According to trauma specialist Dr. Bruce Perry, we need to shift from, “what’s wrong with you” to “what happened to you” because your past has shaped you into the person you are today. And If your past was filled with painful, traumatic, or overwhelming experiences, you may be carrying unprocessed psychological and physiological wounds from those experiences. Those past unprocessed wounds can lead to the distressing issues and symptoms you are experiencing today.
There’s Hope
The good news is you can heal those wounds when you feel truly seen and validated. You can heal when you are offered a space to be authentic and vulnerable. You can heal when you are provided with information and tools to help you flourish. That’s what I’m here for.
